Born in Lancaster, England.
Studied at the Royal College of Art, London. He came to Canada in 1923 and was appointed Director of Art at the Toronto Central Technical School. He did commissions in stained glass including 14 panels for First Baptist Church, Ottawa, in Toronto and Montreal. In 1936 he was elected president of the CSPWC. Was assigned to record activities of the Canadian Armed Forces in BC during World War II. He painted mostly landscapes and later developed a semi-abstract style in the 1950's that were geometric and complex in style.
