Ned Matilpi, (Lus-toos-las) of the Ma'amtagila band and the Tlingit and Kwakwaka'wakw Nations grew up in Alert Bay areas of northern Vancouver Island, BC. He followed in his father's footsteps as a carver and has added a contemporary touch to his carvings which makes them very appealing for the current market. His work is strongly based in the traditional history and lore of the First Nations people and each piece has a remarkably strong aspect.
