Ludwig (or Ludwik) was born on November 21, 1868. He became
one of the most talented Polish painters of modern Impressionism. His name was from an old French family, the Earl de Laveaux. His family emigrated to
Poland in the mid 1800's. He finished high school in St. Jacek, then went on to study art in the Academy of Fine Art in Cracow. Then went on to post
secondary in Academy Monachijskiej, then in Paris. He was a student of Yan Matejki, among others, and a friend of Stanislawa Wyspianskiego. His paintings
were often of hardworking people, impressionistic landscapes, portraits, seascapes, and expressive, night landscapes. He has left in 1889 at age 21 for
Paris, to learn from his impressionistic painter friends. He returned home several times over the years to paint it with more exergy every time. Creation of
ludwik was known not enough (little) de until quite lately Laveaux. Most of his paintings are in private collections, and when they come up, demand high
prices. There are some in the Polish National Museum in Warsaw, Crakow, Wroclaw and Kielce. Ludwik Died on April 5, 1894 of tuberculosis. There are books
on his lifes work, as well as a series of documentaries.
